Concrete & Masonry Calculators

Concrete and masonry work forms the structural backbone of nearly every construction project. Use these free calculators to estimate materials, quantities, and costs before you order.

About Concrete & Masonry Calculators

Concrete is one of the most widely used construction materials in the world, prized for its compressive strength, durability, and versatility. Whether you're pouring a backyard slab, building a block foundation wall, or laying a brick veneer, accurate material estimates prevent costly over-orders and frustrating shortfalls mid-project.

Masonry work — bricks, CMU blocks, natural stone — requires careful planning for both unit counts and mortar volumes. Mortar joints vary from 3/8 inch to 1/2 inch depending on the application, and even small variations in joint thickness can meaningfully change how many bags of mortar you'll need. Our calculators account for standard joint sizing and automatically add waste factors.

Concrete is ordered by the cubic yard (27 cubic feet). Most residential slabs are 4 inches thick; driveways are typically 4–6 inches; footings are sized by the structural engineer's design. When ordering from a ready-mix supplier, always round up to the nearest quarter yard and confirm the minimum order quantity — most suppliers have a 1-yard minimum, and short loads carry a surcharge.
